Tuck-Pointing or Re-Pointing as we call it, is necessary when the mortar between brick or stone becomes deteriorated and if let go to long will cause structural damage. Unfortunately this process is very expensive because its labor intensive and time consuming. When properly done the joints are ground out leaving a notch and then cleaned with high air pressure then new mortar is pushed into those joints and stricken making the brick or stone work like new again.
